IRISH DISTILLERS BOTTLING FACILITY EXPANSION

This project saw an expansion of Irish Distillers’ Fox and Geese bottling facility in Clondalkin, Dublin, in order to develop and increase capacity at what is the primary bottling plant for all IDL spirits. The expansion was one of the first projects in the company’s ongoing investment plan for its Irish distillery, bottling and storage sites in Dublin and Cork.

The Fab 24 technology facility in Leixlip, Kildare, is one of the world’s largest and most advanced computer chip manufacturing plants. The wide-ranging project carried out by PJ Hegarty for this major microchip manufacturing company involved extensive site works and construction of a building complex.

Ground broke on Tirlán’s (formally Glanbia Ingredients Ireland) Belview site in Co. Kilkenny in May 2013, with the new state-of-the-art dairy processing facility going live and operational in May 2015. Construction consisted of a dairy intake facility, milk processing, evaporation, drying and powder handling, and filling facilities, as well as a warehouse and administrative headquarters.

Project Evolve 2.0 is a high-tech ingredients plant in Little Island, Cork that creates flavourings chiefly for use in Walkers Crisps. This commission required the construction of a new two-storey facility measuring approximately 3600m² over two floors.

In 2018, biologics company Wuxi announced it was building its first facility outside China, and PJ Hegarty secured the contract to develop the new plant at Dundalk Science and Technology Park. It will be one of the world’s largest facilities with disposable bioreactors.

LUCEY TRANSPORT LOGISTICS

PJ Hegarty completed a €13 million project to construct a new distribution centre for Lucey Transport Logistics at a site in Greenogue Business Park, Rathcoole, Co Dublin. The project comprised the construction of four units with a total footprint of 16,723 m². The development — which also included a full operations and administration fit-out — was completed in nine months.

MCCORMICK MACNAUGHTON CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS

In 2010, PJ Hegarty completed an €18.5 million project to build a new corporate headquarters for McCormick Macnaughton Limited, who at the time were the sole distributor in Ireland of Caterpillar construction equipment, marine, and power generation products. The development was built on a six-acre site at the entrance to the Aerodrome Business Park in Rathcoole, Co Dublin.

IRISH EXAMINER PRINTING PLANT

PJ Hegarty was contracted to construct a new printing facility for the Irish Examiner, to house a new state-of-the-art press with increased printing capacity. The new facility was built over a period of 46 weeks at Mahon Point, at the junction of the Southern Ring Road and the Mahon Link Road, 5km from Cork city centre. Numerous titles are printed at the plant, including the Irish Examiner, the Sunday Business Post, the Evening Echo and other regional titles.

DUNBOY CASTLE

PJ Hegarty undertook the conservation, reconstruction, and extension to the historic Dunboy Castle overlooking Bantry Bay on the Berea Peninsula in County Cork. This complex project saw us restore a badly dilapidated Victiorian mansion partly destroyed by fire and develop it for use as a luxury hotel and spa, thus ensuring the preservation of an important historical building for future generations in a sustainable way.

CLARION HOTEL

The Clarion Hotel is recognised as Cork City's landmark 4-star hotel, enviably situated on the waterfront within the City Quarter development on Lapps Quay, the heart of the city’s business district. PJ Hegarty was responsible for the full-scale development of this mixed-use site, which incorporates the 197 bedroom hotel plus a restaurant, bar and leisure centre, as well as offices and ancillary retail units.
