When PJ Hegarty built the Morrison Hotel on Ormond Quay on Dublin’s Northside in [] it was one of Ireland’s hippest hotels — and it remains so to this day. Upon PJ Hegarty finishing the project, the boutique hotel had 94 bedrooms, a restaurant, a dining room, two bars and a nightclub. The Morrison overlooks the Liffey, and is just across the river from Temple Bar.

GUINNESS STOREHOUSE GRAVITY BAR EXPANSION & HUB

PJ Hegarty was awarded the prestigious contract to work on the Guinness Storehouse — which has consistently been Ireland’s most popular tourist attraction for many years. The project consisted of works in three distinct areas: Alteration and extension of 466m² to the iconic panoramic view Gravity Bar on the seventh floor; 360m² of alterations at fifth floor level, and 151m² of alterations at lower ground floor level.

PJ Hegarty completed work on the Loughlinstown Leisure Centre in 2013, delivering a state of the art sports facility on time and within budget. The project included construction of a new 25-metre swimming pool and changing facilities, four outdoor artificial pitches with pitch side changing facilities, a new reception area, coffee shop, childrens’ play area and improved parking. The entire centre itself was also refurbished and modernised to equip it for the 21st Century.

SEAN O’CASEY COMMUNITY CENTRE

SEAN O’CASEY COMMUNITY CENTRE

The Sean O’Casey Community Centre is an award-winning building in the heart of Dublin’s north inner city East Wall area. As well as being a unique, modern addition to the old docklands district, it also functions as an essential social, sports and cultural hub for the whole community. The centre is a single-storey building with a floor plate of 2,500m² and a five-storey focal tower. It has four distinct ‘quadrants’ with separate facilities for various sections of the community, including day care facilities for the elderly, a crèche, a theatre, a sports hall and an outside FAI standard all-weather pitch.

PJ Hegarty led a successful and challenging project to construct a new state-of-the-art hospital building and 3,000m² of underground car park at Naas General, without disrupting the adjacent main hospital, which remained fully operational throughout the project.

Barchester is one of the UK's leading healthcare providers, with over 220 centres offering a range of services including residential and nursing care, respite care and assisted living. PJ Hegarty led a project to complete construction of a new nursing home with associated essential services, as well as close care apartments.

MERCY UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

MERCY UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

PJ Hegarty was contracted by the Mercy Hospital in Cork city to complete a new 175-bed facility, incorporating psychiatric, medical and surgical wards, as well as a new Pathology department and facilities for future consultants’ clinics. The building was constructed using a reinforced concrete frame structure on six levels. The unit is clad in monochrome rendered blockwork with aluminium windows and curtain walling. The vaulted roof detail was achieved through state-of -the-art Kalzip curved sheeting on a structural steel frame.

OUR LADY OF LOURDES HOSPITAL

PJ Hegarty secured an €18m contract to construct a new A&E department at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, as well as three levels of ward blocks. The project involved a three-storey over basement reinforced concrete extension. The ground floor was fully fitted out as the new A&E department with an approximate area of 1,000m². The two floors directly over the A&E are ward blocks and the third floor was fitted out as a coronary care unit.

PJ Hegarty was commissioned by Bon Secours Health System to carry out a major refurbishment and extension project on this private hospital on the banks of the River Lee in Cork, which saw a significant upgrade to the North Block and St. Mary’s Ward plus the addition of a hospital kitchen-restaurant.
