Centenary Spinathon Challenge

26 Jun 2025

On Wednesday, June 18th, eight PJ Hegarty sites across Ireland took part in our Centenary Spinathon Challenge.

The three-hour event saw four sites from both the Eastern and Southern regions go head to head, in support of two incredible causes.

The Southern Region spun for the Cork University Hospital Neonatal Unit, while the Eastern Region cycled for ASIAM, Ireland’s autism charity.

To keep the energy high, a live leader board tracked the progress of each site in real time, sparking some healthy rivalry as teams raced to rack up the kilometres. For every kilometre cycled, PJ Hegarty donated €10 to each region’s chosen charity. This along with the bragging rights gave the teams an extra push.

A huge well done to everyone who took part and supported this fantastic initiative!

Watch here:

Genevie Rose and Barry Casey presented the funds raised from the Southern Region Spinathon to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit team at Cork University Hospital.

They were joined by members of the Neonatal Unit, including Midwife Miriam Casey, NICU Manager Grainne McNabola, and Consultant Dr. Mmoloki Kenosi, to officially hand over the donation.
