PJ Hegarty wins Supreme Safety Award at the 2026 NISO Awards

PJ Hegarty has received the Supreme Safety Award, the highest honour at the All-Ireland Occupational Safety Awards, alongside the Healthy Workplace Award and the Consistent High Achiever Award. The three awards were presented at a gala ceremony on 9th October 2026 at the Great Southern Killarney.

Organised by the National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) and the Northern Ireland Safety Group (NISG), the awards recognise achievement in occupational health and safety. For PJ Hegarty, this year’s success is recognition of the collective effort of its people and supply chain partners in creating safer, healthier workplaces.

The Supreme Safety Award, sponsored by Irving Oil Whitegate Refinery, recognises consistently strong or continuously improving health and safety performance over several years, or an outstanding contribution to occupational safety, health and welfare. Receiving the overall award is a significant achievement for the company and everyone who contributes to maintaining high standards across its projects and activities.

From site teams and project management to support functions, EHS staff and senior management, everyone plays a part. These awards reflect that shared responsibility and the importance of looking out for one another every day.

 Brian Mooney, Director, said:

“For me, these awards are first and foremost recognition of our people. They reflect the commitment shown every day across PJ Hegarty to looking out for one another and creating safer, healthier workplaces. A huge thank you and congratulations to everyone across the company. This is an achievement we can all be very proud of.”

The Healthy Workplace Award, sponsored by Healthy Ireland, recognises organisations that make health and wellbeing a core part of their health and safety approach. It considers how employers consult with their people, identify wellbeing priorities and encourage participation in workplace initiatives, supported by strong leadership and communication.

Receiving this award recognises PJ Hegarty’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of its people, alongside their safety.

The Consistent High Achiever Award acknowledges organisations that have received a Distinction Award or higher in each of the previous five years. For PJ Hegarty, it recognises the sustained work of teams across the business to maintain those standards year after year.

Sinead Gaines, EHS Regional Manager, said:

“We’re honoured to receive both the Supreme Award and the Healthy Workplace Award at this year’s NISO Awards. A positive safety culture benefits everyone, and moments like this don’t come around too often. PJ Hegarty treats safety as a core value embedded in all our operations and we’re very appreciative of this recognition for our EHS staff, project teams and supply chain partners, who work with us every day towards our shared safety objective: ‘Everyone goes home safe.’”

PJ Hegarty thanks everyone across the company and its supply chain for their contribution to this achievement and their continued commitment to keeping themselves and those around them safe and well.
