Phibblestown Schools
P.J. Hegarty & Sons were contracted for the design and build of two new schools incorporating a shared Community Facility at Phibblestown, Dublin 15.
The 1,000 pupil Post Primary School consists of 27 classrooms, 38 specialist classrooms, PE facilities, a special needs unit and ancillary accommodation totalling 11,278 m2 over three floors. A separate Primary School consists of 24 classrooms, a special needs unit and ancillary accommodation totalling 4,306 m² over three floors.
The project incorporated all external works including: 9 hard surface basketball courts, a 60m all-weather playing pitch, circulation roads and parking spaces for approximately 115 cars.
The new facilities – the most modern in the country at the time of build- aim to provide state of the art Primary and Post Primary education and serve the educational needs of over 1,700 pupils in the Phibblestown and Ongar areas. As well as providing Primary, Post Primary and Adult Education, the plan includes enhanced community facilities including meeting rooms, a recording studio, fitness suite, sports hall and an all-weather playing surface, with landscaping integrated sensitively into the local environment.
